PM360 Awards Event In New York City – 3 Minute Read

This week I was one of two patient advocates that were awarded a PM360 Elite winner. It was a celebration to show appreciation for the work many have done to help others in the health sectors. It was an honor to be recognized as a patient advocate at the event.

Every day I make sure I have the opportunity to help others. This could be someone I see on the street, a patient I’ve been connected with, advocacy and awareness projects, or anything else that impacts someone else.

The truth is that this never feels like work at all. It comes naturally and helping others has become one of my drugs of choice (the other being triathlons). When getting a card in the mail, call from a patient, or general reaction from my work helping others, my body gets a shot of happy.

So when I was told that I would be one of the recipients of a PM360 award, I was surprised because I don’t think I’ve done anything to deserve recognition. If I get to help other a fellow Spoonie, it improves my day immediately. And the feeling at the end of the day when my head hits the pillow is one I never want to lose.

The event was really well done as well. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but as soon as I walked in, it was clearly going to be a fun networking event. I made my way around the room, took in the view from inside, and then the event went to a midtown view with the Empire State building as the sun went down and the lights came on.

I also got to reconnect with the CEO of Remedy Health Media, Michael Cunnion. Not only is Michael, a fellow triathlete, but he is also a fantastic person who truly wants to help others every day. I’m not sure how the guy balances all the projects he is a part of with just 24 hours a day.

We are already starting to brainstorm about ways to help Spoonies (chronic illness warrior) in a wide variety of ways. Discussion of when we are meeting is already in the works, which is beyond exciting.

Stay tuned for what is ahead. There might be some incredible things happening.
