The Inspiration Of Walt Disney
I was lucky enough to be invited down to Orlando to take part in a fantastic event which I will talk about in an upcoming post, but I wanted to take a moment to reflect on what Disney has become to me and what an incredible inspiration the entire Disney machine is.
Why do I bring this up? Because it’s important to find motivation for each of us. Something that inspires us always to work harder and take the path that isn’t the easy route.
While most people are walking around Disney, they are taken back by the characters, theme parks, and so much more. Now, this is all amazing and easy to get lost in every minute. I find myself getting lost it in for sure. But for me, what is even more impressive is the dream it all represents and the hard work behind.
I was walking around Disney Springs this trip, and I saw this picture every day staring at me through the glass. The picture below does NOT do it justice.
But I found myself not thinking about the norms of Disney!
Instead, I found myself thinking about the hard work that Walt put into creating the Disney dream, which made his dreams possible.
All of a sudden, I went down a business rabbit hole trying to apply this picture and the dream it resembles to my own life. For some reason, my mind works this way.
Step one will be to not only make professional and personal goals but dreams as well. If Walt didn’t dream big, we would have never seen the incredible machine that is Disney all around the world.
Step two will be to approach all areas of my life, similar to the Disney machine. It is putting in the hard work, even if it means an extra mile. On top of the hard work, having a systematic approach to any task in life to make it easier.
In my professional life, this means being the best financial advisor possible and giving my clients the best experience when working with me, and making tough decisions that impact their future. Doing right by every client I work with for their personal planning needs.
In the areas physical and mental health, this means never taking the easy way out and always pushing myself to be better. Doing everything I can to overcome my Crohn’s, asthma, arthritis, and other challenges life has thrown my way.
And most importantly, in my personal life, this means doing everything I can to be the best husband possible to Sarah. Always being by her side and giving her the life she deserves, making sure the smiles vastly outnumber any downtimes we may have.
From this point forward, I’m going to work as hard as Walt did to reach his dreams in various areas of my life in order to achieve my dreams.
I think it’s clear that this picture spoke to me in a variety of ways. Motivating me do be better and do things differently if it means a better outcome.
I loved it so much that I bought a smaller and more realistic (affordable) print to hang near my desk. I know it will motivate me to work hard every single day.
