Work, Golf, Triathlons, Friends, Food Balance – 4 Minute Read

Every once in a while, a weekend comes along when life seems to be in perfect balance. This past weekend was an excellent example of just that for me. It combined work, golf, triathlon, friends, and good food for three straight days. So what is that combination for me? Let me sum up Friday through Sunday for you very quickly.Friday started with an early morning swim at 5 am with the short swim course of 25 yards at Chelsea Piers CT. Plus it was the first day using my new TYR Special Ops 3 goggles which are beyond comfortable, don’t leak or fog, and allow me to enjoy swimming that much more — got in 2,000 yards for about 1.15 miles.

After spending a few minutes in the office and going over client materials, I headed to play a round of golf with a client at the Country Club of New Canaan. A beautiful course that has completely changed since the last time I played there. It ended up being a sunny and hot day, but I can’t complain about spending my Friday there.

Saturday started with a 40-mile adventure bike ride that might have lead me to a new favorite route — combined a right amount of flats and hills, which is precisely what I need to train on right now. Plus I finished with a 16.1 mph pace which is pretty good for me.

After, we got to spend the day celebrate Sophia’s 2nd birthday with the Drakos family. Will and Meghan are two of the best people I know, so whenever there is a reason to see them, it’s fine by me.

Sunday started with a morning in bed with Aspen and Sarah, which was needed. I’ve been waking up between 4-5 am for a couple of weeks now, so it was nice to stay in bed until 6:30. But then I got to business and ran 4.35 miles at a sub ten pace, plus had good strength and power training session. Right now, I am feeling very strong for Ironman Maine 70.3 with the Crohn’s Colitis Foundation.

Then we had brunch with the Ratki family and hung out with their three pups Bella, Yeti, and Harley. Brunch is one of my favorite meals since it’s delicious but also relaxed at the same time. Always lovely to unwind with a nice meal and friends on a Sunday.

But a delicious day didn’t end there. Colony Grill pizza was had, and the best part was, they had my favorite beer on tap. I was able to enjoy 2 Two Roads Road Jams with my pizza, which is perfection for me. Now I have to use some self-control for the rest of my training since it’s so close.

I hope you all had a great weekend as well and were able to enjoy a perfect weekend like this from time to time.
