Convatec, Forever Caring, words they’re living by. Plus my experience with their moldable technology.

This Post Is Not Sponsored And Statements Are My Own

I’ve been blessed with some amazing moments while being a patient advocate to help others. I made a decision years ago to no longer stay quiet about my Crohn’s disease and ostomy, and focus on sharing my story to benefit patients just like me.

During this time, I’ve been able to take part in some incredible events and opportunities to discuss what I’ve been through and hopefully shine a light on ways that companies can make the lives of Spoonies all over the world better.

Recently, I was honored to give a glimpse of what changing an ostomy is like, and what might help other ostomates like me to the President of ConvaTec Karim Bitar. This might have been a highlight of my advocacy.

As side note and for those that might not know, ConvaTec is the ostomy product of choice for me. It has been since I became an ostomate about 11 years ago now.

The reason why I love ConvaTec is their moldable technology, which in my mind is the easiest and best way to get a wafer around your stoma. It’s made a material that adjusts it self to “turtleneck” around your stoma giving you a tight seal, while preventing skin irritation and leaks.

If you haven’t tried it yet, please feel free to reach out and I will happily share more. Or reach out to ConvaTec and request a sample for free.

But back to the highlight of my advocacy.

As I was talking with Mr. Bitar and going through not only what it’s like to change an ostomy, but also what it’s like to live with an ostomy. Click here for a little more information about what an ostomy is.

If you don’t live with an ostomy, it’s hard to get a feel for what changing one might be, the possible differences in daily life, the management, the reason why we need as much security as possible, and more.

One of the greatest parts of working along side Mr. Bitar and his team, was the passion of wanting to learn everything they can do in order to be a leader in the ostomy community. A company that patients, care-givers, and more can trust and count on.

I began to get questions from many of the decision makers within the ostomy department at ConvaTec. It quickly became a moment, not only for me, but for others in the ostomy community as well. It was clear that action was going to be taken, our voices would be heard, and positive changes can be made to improve our lives with an ostomy.

ConvaTec is going through a transformation, focusing more on patients and care-givers than ever. Their new motto is “Forever Caring” and I can tell you, they’re living and breathing this every single day.

This is one of those moments in my advocacy that allow me to look back and when people ask if I would change anything about my chronic illness, for example if I could go back and not have Crohn’s disease, I can easily say “Nope!” If I wasn’t put through the tests that I have been, I wouldn’t be able to help the communities that I’m apart of.

I’m beyond excited about what’s ahead for ConvaTec and you should be too. Be on the lookout for great things from Mr. Bitar and his team, because they really are “Forever Caring.
